Northeastern Pennsylvanians are facing rising costs from health care, to groceries, to energy bills.
Congressman Rob Bresnahan voted for the largest cuts to Medicaid and SNAP in history, which could result in the loss of tens of thousands of jobs across our Commonwealth.
Over 200,000 of Congressman Bresnahan’s constituents rely on Medicaid. According to Pennsylvania’s Department of Human Services, federal Medicaid cuts would jeopardize health coverage for millions of children and families, seniors, and people with disabilities. Due to Medicaid cuts, hospitals and nursing homes are at risk of closure, leaving Pennsylvanians hours away from or without access to critical care.
Congressman Bresnahan and his colleagues in Congress have not made health care tax credits permanent. According to Pennie, Pennsylvania’s health care marketplace, Congressman Bresnahan’s constituents can expect an average premium increase of 71 percent. A middle-income family of four could see their monthly health insurance costs jump 108 percent.
Nearly 146,000 of Congressman Bresnahan’s constituents rely on SNAP to put food on the table. Over 8 percent of all food and beverage purchases across the Commonwealth are paid for SNAP. According to Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, federal cuts jeopardize SNAP’s existence in the state. Cuts to SNAP also harm programs that benefit local Pennsylvania farmers and Pennsylvania food banks and pantries.
Congressman Rob Bresnahan voted four times to support cost-raising tariffs, which economists estimate will cost families an additional $2,300 per year. These tariffs have skyrocketed grocery prices and impacted goods like furniture and pharmaceutical drugs.
Congressman Bresnahan voted for a bill that would cut energy tax credits for families and businesses. In 2026, households in Pennsylvania could see their annual electricity costs increase by $93.
